The Power of Awareness?

My name is Ryan. I wanted to share a remarkable journey with you, one that underscores the power of knowledge and community support.

I attended the Noosa Prostate Association’s Prostate Cancer Awareness Lunch in August 2023, where I learned a lifesaving lesson about prostate health. In addition to the need for regular testing and early diagnosis, I recalled advice given by Urologist, Dr Stuart Collins, in his address to the 300 guests, to be on the lookout for changes in PSA, and that there is no such thing as a normal range for PSA.

Thanks to what I had learned, I requested a referral to Dr Collins, which led to a diagnosis of Prostate Cancer, and a subsequent & successful robotic prostatectomy. Early diagnosis and treatment meant that I am now clear of prostate cancer and functioning normally.

I want to express my deep gratitude to the Noosa Prostate Association and to this incredible Noosa Community. Without the knowledge I gained that day, my story may have been very different. It is a reminder that sometimes the smallest changes can lead to lifesaving actions.

With great appreciation …… a proud Noosa local
